STEVE SHELTO
As a youngster in Brooklyn, Steve Shelto sang harmony in deserted subway stations; now he performs for Presidents and Royalty. Steve Shelto is a multi-talented individual. His 1980 hit recording of "Manhattan Shuffle" and 1983 smash hit recording of "Don't You Give Your Love Away", along with his rich vocal stylings, tasty guitar expertise and elegant demeanor have earned him the nickname, Mr. Class.
Steve Shelto is the quintessential dues-paying artist, with a varied background that includes appearances at major New York City area clubs, session work, radio and television commercials and voice-overs (Wild Irish Rose Wine, R&S Strauss, Children's Television Workshop's "3-2-1 Contact"), off-Broadway acting, movie and television appearances ("The Joe Franklin Show", and "All My Children" and Woody Allen's 1990 movie "Alice", and the upcoming Steven Spielberg' movie, "War of the Worlds"). Steve Shelto also received rave reviews when he starred with his good friend, Barbara Bock, in a Richard Rodgers retrospective staged at the Goodspeed Opera House in Connecticut.
Steve Shelto has been the featured vocalist with many well-known orchestras and has traveled worldwide playing for Presidential Inaugurals; not to mention private White House appearances. Steve charmed Nancy Reagan on one occasion, with his rendition of "Nancy". The President stopped dancing and prompted by his wife came up to shake Steve Shelto's hand.
Steve Shelto was the center of attention when he sang at the 60th birthday party for Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle. In attendance were all the monarchs of Europe. The Queen managed a few smiles in Steve's direction that night. The guests so enjoyed themselves at the wedding of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson that the band played for eight hours. Other Royal engagements included Prince Edward's 21st birthday, and the Queen Mother's 100th birthday celebration at Windsor Castle and the list goes on and on.
Steve Sheltobrought his "Steve Shelto Band" into the Rainbow Room in NYC to play the after party for the opening of the Broadway show, "Laugh Whore".
For the last several years, Steve Shelto has enjoyed entertaining during "the season" in Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Naples, and other locations in Florida.
December 2005 was the second year that Steve Sheltojoined his good friends, Gary Blu and Barbara Bock, in a benefit Christmas concert for the Brookfield High School, Brookfield, Ct, Music Department. Once again it was a huge success. Steve has been asked to participate again in 2006.
In January 2006 Steve Shelto sang at the Orbis Ball in Palm Beach which honored Prince Edward. The Prince shook Steve’s hand and commented that it was hard to believe it had been over twenty years since Steve sang at his 21st birthday party.
Upcoming engagements for Steve Shelto include dates in Europe and throughout the United States. Truly enjoying the "art of singing", Steve "keeps on".
