RORY PARTIN BAND

Every now and then something truly unique and great comes along in the world of music. One of these is the Rory Partin Band, formerly the Bo Thorpe Orchestra. Begun twenty-four years ago in New York City under the direction of Henry "Bo" Thorpe Jr., and now under the direction of Rory Partin, the band was founded with the goal of creating a show/dance band that could play the "sounds of today while capturing the nostalgia of the past." The idea was to create a band that combined the horns of past greats, such as The Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, and Harry James Bands, as well as others of that timeless era, with the sounds, songs and rhythms of modern day popular music. The result, a sound so exciting and fresh that Billboard magazine says the band is "spearheading the movement of Big Band dance music for this era," while BARRON's says the band's music is "great... living up to it's word." The Las Vegas Sun says, "America has its first truly new name Big Band in more than three decades;" and The New Yorker says, The Rory Partin Band "puts it all together- good listening, good dancing and good looking." And Southern Living Magazine writes the Rory Partin Band is, "the best variety dance band in America." People of all ages are crowding the dance floors from coast to coast moving to the rhythms of "The premier dance band on the scene today." Playing music ranging from the 1940's to the new millennium, its exciting, fresh new sound is being heard on campuses of the nation's largest colleges and universities, at state and national conventions, on stage in the most prestigious concert facilities, and before elite audiences at major social and special events. Favorite songs from every genre, including: Big Band and Big Band Swing; Beach Music; "Rock and Roll"; "Motown"; K B; Disco; Broadway show tunes; Latin; Pop; Easy Listening; even a few country tunes, and more... make the Rory Partin Band the ultimate dance band. Over the years, the Rory Partin Band (formerly the Bo Thorpe Orchestra) has recorded and released several albums. BILLBOARD says of one album, it "may just be the best Big Band album of the year."

The Rory Partin Band/Bo Thorpe Orchestra can also be heard in the jet streams on many of the nation's and the world's airlines within the format of their in flight programming, as well as Big Band radio stations all across the country. The band has even been known to do wedding receptions when the opportunity arises.

One newspaper quoted, "'The Glenn Miller band was your Daddy's band, the [Rory Partin Band] is your band.'" According to the National Society of Fund Raising Executives, "If you want the frosting on the cake, you'll simply have to hire the [Rory Partin Band]." The Rory Partin Band-fusing the generation gap-a new sound for a new world.
